At Preston Art, there is a belief that "Everyone can paint"

Situated in Plenty Road, Preston, all the classes are run by professional artists and highly qualified teachers in a supportive studio environment.

It was established recently 2023 to develop art in the North of Melbourne for art classes and workshops for complete beginners, intermediate and advanced students.

Preston Art needs to develop and grow to allow us to offer a greater variety of courses and workshops in a range of painting techniques and methodologies.

Our aim is to develop a close community of students and peers that continue to use the studio to paint, socialise and further develop their skills.

The aim is also to allow students to go on to exhibit professionally, both independently and as a group.

Preston Painting art classes are structured, but fun and informal, and every student receives one-on-one guidance whilst developing skills and confidence.

With our personal approach and core academic skill set, our teachers are dedicated to helping students become competent in their art.

The focus of our teaching is understanding media and building classically-based skills to enable students to do the work they wish to do.

The aim is to also offer oil painting short courses for complete beginners as well as ongoing painting classes for intermediate and advanced students.

As Preston art grows there will be capacity to offer a wide range of workshops covering contemporary, and traditional media and techniques throughout the year.

For example:

  • understanding the pigments of the oils and the paints themselves, to which quality of paints.

  • understand the importance of canvases, the preparation required and the quality of the canvas you purchase

  • learn about the brushes you use and the ethical reasoning

  • learn the techniques and reasoning behind the processes

  • understand the history from the masters themselves, including the history of changing society and the influences of each era.

Classes will also complement the NDIS art therapy, individual and art group workshops and the contact is through Joining The Dots registered provider, or your own NDIS support coordinator.

We strongly recommend you book ahead of time to secure your place with the online booking or send the NDIS allocation of hours to Joining The Dots Linda@joiningthedots.net.au to link in for classes.
